Professional Experience
Patent Law
- Longstanding legal counsel and representation for clients on patent law in the area of textile machines, internal combustion engines, packaging machines and machine tools in the context of developing IP protection strategies, applying for industrial property rights as well as in patent granting proceedings before the German Patent and Trade Mark Office and the European Patent Office.
- Special experience in enforcing own IP rights and defending against third party attacks, acting for the successful party in the following decisions, among others: Federal High Court of Justice BGH X ZR 131/02 – Weft transport; Düsseldorf Higher Regional Court OLG 2 U 118/09 – Mattress II; Düsseldorf Higher Regional Court OLG 2 U 79/11 – Ink cartridge adapter.
- Work in an advisory capacity in disputes in other European countries as well as in China and India.
- Preparing of opinions on the validity or infringement of patents.
Trademark Law
- Legal counsel and representation in conjunction with the application for trademarks as well as in the registration procedure at the German Patent and Trade Mark Office as well as at the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO).
Design Law
- Legal counsel and representation in conjunction with the application for design patents as well as in the registration procedure at the German Patent and Trade Mark Office as well as at the EUIPO.
- Experience in enforcing own IP rights and in defending against third party attacks.
