Professional Experience

Patent Law

• Many years of providing legal counsel and representation for clients in patent law in the area of general manufacturing and engineering, composite materials, domestic appliances and sanitation technology.
• Vast experience in drafting and preparing numerous patent applications as well as conducting and coordinating patent granting procedures in Germany, Europe and non-European countries as well as in conjunction with the development of intellectual property right strategies.
• Representation in numerous patent opposition proceedings in Germany and Europe.
• Preparing of opinions on the validity or infringement of patents.

Trademark Law

• He provides legal counsel and representation in conjunction with filing trademark applications as well as for the registration procedure at the German Patent and Trade Mark Office, the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) and the WIPO.

Design Law

• He provides legal counsel and representation in conjunction with the application for design patents as well as in the registration procedure at the German Patent and Trade Mark Office, the EUIPO and the WIPO.
• Special experience in enforcing own IP rights in and out of court, acting for the successful party in the following decisions, among others: Düsseldorf Higher Regional Court I 20-U 190/05 Scope of Protection of the Design; Vienna Higher Regional Court 1 R 183/04w.
• Work in an advisory capacity in disputes in other European countries as well as in China.
• Preparing opinions on the validity or infringement of design patents.

Professional Involvement

Florian Renger works as a tutor at the Centre d’Etudes Internationales de la Propriété Industrielle in Strasbourg for courses designed to prepare candidates for the European Qualifying Examination. He is also a member of the Design Committee of the German Chamber of Patent Attorneys and a member of the Design Committee of GRUR.
