Professional Experience

Patent Law

• Providing longstanding legal counsel and representation for clients on patent law in the areas of automotive and automotive supply, vehicle and drive technology, general mechanical engineering, medical technology, textile technology and plant construction.
• He has vast experience in drafting and preparing patent applications as well as in handling and coordinating patent granting procedures in Germany, Europe and abroad.
• He has vast experience in handling out-of-court patent disputes and settlement negotiations and cooperates with German and foreign attorneys on patent litigation in German and European courts.
• Representation in a number of patent opposition proceedings and patent nullity proceedings in Germany and Europe.

Trademark Law

• Longstanding legal counsel and representation for clients on trademark law in virtually all economic areas.
• Extensive experience in handling and coordinating trademark registration proceedings in Germany, the European Union as well as abroad in and outside of Europe.
• Vast experience in handling and coordinating out-of-court trademark disputes and settlement negotiations throughout Germany, Europe and across the globe.
• Cooperation on a large number of in-court trademark disputes in Germany and abroad in coordination with German and foreign attorneys.

Design Law

• Providing legal counsel and representation for clients from different economic areas.
• Handling registration procedures, including cancellation proceedings at the German Patent and Trade Mark Office (DPMA), the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO), the WIPO and national offices.
• Conducting of design litigation proceedings in and out of court, including infringement proceedings, in Germany and abroad, when necessary together with colleagues from our international network of attorneys.
• Preparing opinions in conjunction with design rights or design infringements.

Professional Involvement

Peter Wilhelm has been an active delegate in the Federal Association of German Patent Attorneys (BDPA) since 1998 to date. Furthermore, he was a member of the board of the BDPA from 1998 to 2011 and the president of the Federal Association of German Patent Attorneys from 2005 to 2011. He was a member of the board of the Chamber of German Patent Attorneys from 2014 to 2017 and is again member from 2020 on. Moreover, he was a member of the board of the Federal Association of Independent Professions (BFB) from 2015 to April 2019. Finally, Peter Wilhelm was involved in instructing candidate patent attorneys in Baden-Württemberg for many years.
